As hard as it may be to believe, back-to-school is just around the corner. In the midst of prepping school supplies and coordinating morning drop-offs, it is crucial to consider the safety of your child as a new school year begins.

Anniversaries are as much about looking forward as celebrating accomplishments of the past. With 20 years of service to the survivor community in Wood County, The Cocoon is looking forward to the next two decades.

We couldn’t have done it without you! On June 14, 2005, The Cocoon Shelter welcomed its first survivor and her child, opening its doors through the determination of grassroot efforts, dedicated founding members and the steadfast support of the Wood County community.

On Friday, April 25th, The Cocoon facilitated a condensed version of the Wood County Clothesline Project display at the Juvenile Residential Center of Northwest Ohio (JRC), in an effort to bring awareness and education opportunities to the youth served in the facility.

This month marks both Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM) and Black History Month – two observances that, when examined together, highlight critical issues at the intersection of interpersonal violence and inequality.

Each January, communities, advocates, and organizations across the United States come together to observe two critical awareness campaigns: National Human Trafficking Prevention & Awareness Month and National Stalking Awareness Month. These observances serve as powerful reminders of the pervasive issues of human trafficking and stalking, urging us to take collective action to prevent and address these forms of violence.

October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month was an incredible success, marked by a noticeable increase in community engagement and a passionate response to our advocacy efforts. For #DVAM2024 we were able to connect with nearly 1,000 community members through our programming.
