The event was hosted by the City of Bowling Green Human Relations Commission at the Wood County District Public Library. The Cocoon was nominated and selected for this honor due to, “Their efforts to create a safer and beloved community as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. preached.”
“[The Cocoon’s] work reflects the type of community that we all strive to create; a community that protects our most vulnerable members with care and compassion,” Bowling Green Mayor Mike Aspacher said. Kathy Mull, The Cocoon’s Executive Director, was also invited to give the keynote speech where she spoke of the community it takes to create a world that is safe from gender-based violence.
Many of our community partners, supporters, local government leaders, and board members came out to support the event. Thank you to the BG Human Relations Commission for this honor.
